What our customers are saying
exceeded our expectations John K Atsalis Atlantic Resort Newport Wedding – March 17, 2018 - Middletown, RI

The Connection was fantastic at our wedding. You all really connected with the crowd and exceeded our expectations (though we knew you were the best from the moment we heard you all at the WS showcase!). Our guests loved the performance and couldn’t say enough about how wonderful the band was. Beth danced the night away.

Joey was right there for us and was so sincere and kind Colleen and Colin Mooney Ocean Edge Resort Wedding – September 30, 2017 - Brewster, MA

The Connection is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL !! Joey MC’d the night perfectly and preformed our first dance like no other. I keep watching the video of it and tears come to my eyes. The band members are so incredibly talented and I just LOVE how their personalities shine through in all their songs. They were so engaging and each song was better than the next. The dance floor was packed from the minute dinner was over until the end of the wedding. In fact some guests never sat down.

We chose the Connection because of the various genres of music they played. We wanted music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and top 40 but all in moderation. The Connection delivered just that and so much more. All age groups were on the dance floor all night having a blast. Not only would I highly recommend The Connection to future brides, but I’m sure all our guests have already spread the word, everyone loved them. I’d like to specifically thank Joey for all his help and patience during the planning process. Joey was right there for us and was so sincere and kind.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Joey Scott and The Connection for making our wedding so special and one that our family and friends will remember for years to come.

the performance of a lifetime Robert Mulroy The Crane Estate Wedding – September 22, 2017 - Ipswich, MA

The Connection put on the performance of a lifetime at our wedding! There was not a time after they went on that the dance floor was not full of people dancing. They had an amazing song selection and each player/singer was amazing. We loved this band and would pick them again in a heart beat.

Your band was awesome!!! Lynne Enos Four Seasons Hotel Wedding – September 16, 2017 - Boston, MA

It is always a treat to work with The Connection. Your band was awesome!!!

Hope we can work together again soon.

could not have been happier Tim Condron Hyannisport Club Event – July 29, 2017 - Hyannis Port, MA

Joey,

You and your band were amazing! You totally got the crowd. We could not have been happier. Lots of people from the club were asking how to get a hold of you. When Jodi recommended you first thing she said to me was “you will not be disappointed”. I emeaild her yesterday and told her she was right.

Thanks so much!!!

I never left the dance floor! Molly Clark The Regatta Place Wedding – July 22, 2017 - Newport, RI

The Connection was AMAZING!! My guests and I never left the dance floor. They played a wonderful variety and sounded great!

What a night Kate Dawson Private Residence Wedding – July 8, 2017 - Norwich, VT

Hi Joey

Holy cow! What a night. Thanks to all of you for going above and beyond yesterday (and really for the last year of planning and prep!) The bride, groom and their families were so happy! We pulled it off 😀

Hope everyone got some rest last night – and looking forward to doing that again with everyone soon!

unique and special Beth Sackstein Royal Sonesta Hotel Wedding – June 3, 2017 - Cambridge, MA

Dear Joey,

It is with pure joy and gratitude that we thank you, and your fantastic band, The Connection, for your outstanding role in Danielle and Rohan’s epic wedding celebration! Your professionalism and talent were apparent from our very first phone conversation. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and your joy for life, and love of music, sets the stage, even before you ever set foot on the actual stage! From the onset, you listened to our needs, and made our family feel both unique and special. As a mother planning a wedding, this is both wonderful, and so very important.

From your technical guidance and assistance with the ceremony equipment for our “officiant” son, David, to the Father/Daughter dance, First couple dance, to the fantastic welcome of our guests to the Hora, I knew the evening would be full of energy, joy and love. You are an outstanding master of ceremonies, and your band is professional, high energy and very talented. From the moment we entered the room, no one wanted to leave the dance floor, and all of our guests raved about The Connection! Danielle and Rohan said you played all their favorite songs – we all didn’t want to evening to end, as was apparent by the FULL dance floor after the last song! Plus, my husband, Roberts surprise of “La Bamba” still has guests singing your praises – and Robert’s too! To say this is an evening we will always cherish for a lifetime is an understatement. We will relive the true connection our families and friends made that magical night in June when hearts became one, cultures were joined and celebrated, and new bonds were made. Through music, love and joy – Joey Scott and The Connection helped bring out the very BEST of our world in a true celebration of what is right about the human spirit! It was a magical evening, and we are forever grateful for your role, and that of your fantastic band! Rock on my friend! Rock on!

great music Emma Shandra State Room Event – March 24, 2017 - Boston, MA

Thank you so much for the great music last night! The guests had a great time as always and are already looking forward to The Connection next year.

Thanks again!

They were FANTASTIC! Charles and Mary McGrail Hyatt Boston Harbor Wedding – December 31, 2016 - Boston, MA

We choose The Connection as the band to play at our daughter’s wedding. After attending many weddings at Boston venues over the years, we realize that the band you pick sets the tone of the wedding and we hoped we could find that special band. Well, I hope everyone who is thinking of picking a band will consider The Connection. They were FANTASTIC!! The evening was everything we had hoped for. Their music certainly set the tone and produced a dance floor of enthusiastic dancers. I loved every minute of it. Joey Scott was so approachable and the band members were professional. A special shout out to the band’s attire. Guys you looked fantastic in the men’s suits and the two women surely dressed for NYE. Thank you for that! I only hope by this small snippet of information, you realize how special you made our family’s memories. To close please know my expectations were 100% filled. Thanks to all THE CONNECTION!

crowd surfing at a wedding Mr. & Mrs. Scribi , Lisa Blake Loon Mountain Resort Wedding – November 5, 2016 - Lincoln, NH

Joey,

I just needed to reach out and say thank you again. Our wedding was the most amazing thing ever and you and your band helped make it that way. I didn’t think a dance floor could ever be that packed and even have someone crowd surfing at a wedding. The Connection is not only talented but classy. I hope you all had as much fun as we did!

Thank you again,
Mr. & Mrs. Scribi

….from The Mother of The Bride:

Thank you so much. This is a sampling of comments from our guests:

“By far the best wedding I have ever been to”, “where did you get that band”, “everyone danced all night, people were dancing before the wedding party even arrived”, “how did you find this band”, “can you believe the players came on the dance floor with their instruments”, “a bridesmaid actually body surfed”, “the band members where so friendly”, and “I hated it to see the music end!!”.

ridiculously good Elizabeth Lutz, James Kohli Private Residence Wedding – August 6, 2016 - Little Compton, RI

Hi Justin,

I just wanted to send a quick note – I worked with The Connection on Saturday evening at Erin & James’ wedding. I’d heard such great things about the band and their leader Joey; it was all true and then some. Joey was fabulous leading up to the wedding. He worked with us on the rain plan, which was so appreciated. The band was musically diverse and the number of vocals they have is crazy – how many sing – was is 5?

Anyway, I wanted to say thank you once again.

Warmly,
Elizabeth Lutz

…from The Groom:

Working with Wilson Stevens was super easy! All our questions were responded to quickly and completely. Joey was also great, easy to work with.

The Connection did a ridiculously good job, and the event was incredibly fun. A+, and would strongly recommend.

5) Break Schedule: Excellent. My wedding planner said a few times that this was the easiest, most delightful band she has ever worked with. Their breaks were all so perfectly timed.

6) Use Wilson Stevens again? Yes. Tim was amazing during our initial stages of wedding planning. While booking, Tim gave us sound advice for the flow of the reception to make sure we had ULTIMATE dancing time. I emailed him every few months to ask questions and he treated me like an old friend every time and gave more than enough info and guidance (greatly appreciated!). I would highly recommend connecting with Tim to future couples. Cheryl was wonderful and fast with sending over all paperwork and contracts – really on top of everything. Wilson Stevens made our lives so easy!

Our planner told us that he was the nicest Artist she has EVER worked with. Booking this band was the best decision we made during the ENTIRE wedding planning process. I adore them all.

Lead Vocalist Evan

The Connection’s energetic and passionate lead vocalist, Evan, is an entertainer who hails from Country Club Hills, Illinois. Singing since the age of 5, Evan was a lead singer for his church choir, as well as gospel choirs in his middle school, high school, and college. At the same time, he also utilized his talents as a drummer in symphonic, marching and jazz bands.

Upon moving to Boston six years ago, Evan became the music worship leader at his church, where his love for music continued to be influenced by 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s R&B, as well as gospel groups. A scholar, as well as a musician, Evan, formerly a tutor for MCA testing, is now a High School Physics teacher. The discovery of Evan’s brains and talent has brought a level of professionalism, excitement and enthusiasm to the Connection’s front show that is contagious.

Lead Vocalist Ashley V.

Ashley was born and raised in the small town of New Bedford, MA and her family hails from the beautiful island of Brava, Cape Verde on the northwest coast of Africa. Growing up listening to Sade, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson and many other great musicians, Ashley grew a strong passion for music. As a child she couldn’t wait to get home from school everyday to watch her Disney sing-along song videos.

Realizing her passion for music wasn’t only a hobby, Ashley decided to start playing drums in elementary school, where she also decided to join the choir and sang throughout her elementary, middle school and high school years. While in high school, Ashley joined a singing group called “3Ality,” which opened for well known artists such as “Genuine,” “Chris Brown,” and “Neyo.”

Lead Vocalist Esteban

The Connection’s young, dynamic, front man and dancing machine, Esteban, was born and raised in the beautiful city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Starting to sing at age 9, Esteban moved with his family to the East Coast, where he joined any choir he could find. While in High School, Esteban sang for many prep rallies, fund raisers, and school musicals. As a star in the play “Dream Girls” his senior year, Esteban brought the house down with his rousing performance as “Tiny Joe Dixon.” It was because of this performance, and an audition process with many high school and college students, that Esteban was chosen to be a lead singer for The Connection.

A recent graduate of the Lawrence Performing Arts High School, Esteban decided to take on full-time employment in order to save money for college. Within months, his dedication to his job, quick learning abilities, and hard work, resulted in his rise from cashier and sales clerk to Manager of a local McDonald’s.

Esteban, artist, actor, singer, and great dancer, has grand cooking skills and is preparing to enroll in culinary college. He aspires to be a great singer, the best front showman The Connection has ever seen, and someday, the owner of his own restaurant.

Lead Vocalist Ashley L.

Coming to us from Montego Bay in Jamaica, is our rich, jazzy, and soulful lead singer, Ashley. Moving to Hartford, Connecticut in 2000, Ashley began her professional career as a singer at the tender age of 7 - where she was not only a singer in church but also in numerous gospel concerts as well as a young star of the local musical scene. As Ashley grew older, she began exploring different genres such as R&B, jazz, classical, and funk. She was influenced by legends such as Jill Scott, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Chaka Khan, and Stevie Wonder and attributes her singing style, a mix of jazz, soul, and funk, to all of them.

Ashley, a singer, songwriter, and actress, is a graduate of the premier school of contemporary music, Berklee College of Music located in Boston, where she majored in Music Business and Songwriting. Her exemplary education, background, and talents recently gave her an opportunity to travel to Ghana to sing background vocals for an up and coming gospel artist. Ashley is constantly performing in and around Boston and is ecstatic to be part of The Connection.

Although he feels this is just the beginning of a professional music career, Chris hopes it becomes a lifelong journey. Currently a student at Berklee College of Music, Sebastian feels music is a platform that connects us all and allows for the expression of emotions and feelings for which there are no words. On stage he feels he has a connection with the audience and can give them an experience they cannot get through any other medium. Sebastian says, “Being on the stage and connecting not only with my fellow musicians, but with the audience, is indescribable. I love entertaining and helping people feel emotions evoked through music!”

Proudly earning his US citizenship in 2014, Karl has played sax and shared the stage with many talented acts such as “The Platters,” “The Manhattans,” “Ziggy Marley,” “Earth Wind & Fire,” and the legendary “Ray Charles.“ No stranger to elegant events, he has also performed in front of many dignitaries including former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore.

Karl was also one of the founding members of the popular New England bands “Soul City” and, for more than a decade, was a huge part of that band’s success. He now brings all of his experience and exciting performance style to the stage with the Connection, and crowds love his suave ability to excite and interact with them from the stage and on the dance floor.

Drums Arthur

A home grown talent, The Connection’s drummer, Arthur, was born and raised in Boston and started touring and performing at the age of 17. His passion and talent led to participation in many of New England’s top show and dance bands, as well as the coveted position as drummer for the on-site, live band of the “Matty in the Morning Show” on Kiss 108 FM – one of Boston’s most popular radio stations.
In 2000, Arthur was hired as Musical Director by Herb Reed (founding member of the famous group, “The Platters”) and traveled worldwide with the band. He has also performed with such legendary acts as “The Drifters,” “The Coasters,” “The Shirelles,” “The Tokens,” and “The Crystals,” in addition to “Freddie, Boom Boom Cannon,” and “The Vogues.”
