We were beyond touched to get a note from recent newlyweds Nick and Emily thanking Wilson Stevens and all the other hardworking artistes that helped make their wedding day a dream come true. The couple also included a link to Emily’s sister Zoë’s lifestyle blog, where she had posted a wonderful rundown of all those who contributed to her sister’s big day. We loved reading Zoë’s account of the party, at which Joey Scott & the Connection performed:
“A band like Joey Scott and the Connection isn’t something that everyone can get their hands on, but do try if you have the opportunity! They played an array of genres – from Black Eyed Peas to a Motown medley to swing – and I’ve never seen a dance floor so full. They kept the party going all night, and my favorite part was when the brass musicians went into the audience to play their solos. Talk about an interactive experience.”

So often though, it’s easy to forget just how many hard-working hands go into making a bride’s vision come to life smoothly, beautifully, and above all, memorable. Luckily Zoë is a marketing pro in addition to her bridesmaid role, and her thorough listing allowed us the pleasure of discovering Inkspot Crow Films.
Inkspot Crow “seemed to be everywhere, yet never in the way” while documenting Emily and Nick’s Salters Point wedding, making sure to get every last detail for the couple to cherish. According to their WeddingWire page (which has a perfect rating of 5 stars!), the company was born from the “dream of a ‘new breed’ of wedding cinematography.”
The result is an impressive portfolio of vignettes in which skilled artistry and obvious thoughtfulness produce truly emotional cinematic moments. The music Inkspot Crow incorporates is always spot on as well, catchy without being distracting, with just the right amount of sentimental undertone. We here at Wilson Stevens never underestimate the importance of music!
Just one look at Inkspot Crow’s featured “documentaries about love” (like the one below) and we were hooked. We can’t wait to see how Nick and Emily’s video comes out!
This past weekend was a busy one for many Wilson Stevens bands! Splash! was all smiles in Barrington, RI for Emily and Matthew’s wedding at Rhode Island Country Club. One Step Ahead delivered on the dance floor of Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole, NH, and Eye 2 Eye performed alongside white and cream wedding details at Seaport Boston Hotel. Finally, Encore couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of the colorful decor of Laura and Adam’s wedding at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston.

One Step Ahead recently had the pleasure of performing at Margaret and Grayson’s wedding at the very enchanting Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA. After receiving the most gushing and gracious note below, we just had to post a few of the couple’s amazing wedding photos by Lisa Rigby along with it.
“Where to begin? I cannot speak about One Step Ahead without acting like Giada DeLaurentiis after she tastes something she’s made…and in case that’s too specific a reference for you, what I mean is ‘oooooh myy guuuh–AMAZING.’
I was initially nervous about booking a band sight unseen, but Giovanni’s voice sounded too good to pass up. Fortunately, the gamble played off: the real thing was even better than the video! Giovanni was amaaaazing, I love love looove his voice. (I love his voice so much I want to marry it and then as a bonus I’ll get to have a second wedding for One Step Ahead to play at!) Anyway, Giovanni sang “Time After Time” as our wedding song and I hope I don’t offend anybody when I say that he truly gave Chet Baker a run for his money with that performance. Lily, the female vocalist, has an equally gorgeous voice — and I am incredibly “voice picky”– hers is clear yet soulful, she could sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and have the crowd calling ‘encore!’ There was also a third vocalist (I regret I don’t know his name!) who sang “Simple Man” for the Mother-Son song and he captured the Lynryd Skynyrd sound perfectly. Bottom line: the talent is off the charts and their versatility is beyond impressive. They have all the tools and “ear” to create the perfect sound for each song/genre.
Lastly, as hosts/emcees, they were uber professional and let their sound be their main presence. By this I mean they did an excellent job of reading the energy of the crowd, segueing from song to song based on the feel of the dance floor, and incorporating our “please play” and “do not play” lists–all in a “not in your face” kind of way. They were definitely the pulse and heart of the party, but they never made it about them–NEVER schticky or cheesy. They did a wonderful job with the formalities/announcements, making a point to establish what we did and didn’t want to do weeks before the wedding. [One Step Ahead], I can’t thank you enough!!!”
