The Nantucket Boys & Girls Club 2015 Tim Russert Summer Groove was held the evening of August 15th at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. For the past 14 years the event has evolved to become a highlight of the summer by featuring a fabulous evening of fine food and drinks and a festive dance party. One Step Ahead was honored to provide the entertainment for this wonderful event in 2015.
The event began with a cocktail hour including specialty cocktails, passed appetizers, sushi bar and more. The entertainment, music by One Step Ahead, followed a sit down dinner. The 2015 event was even more spectacular than previous years, as the brand new, state of the art gymnasium was showcased!
In 2008, Chuck Geschke and Maureen Hackett, Board Directors, introduced the Tim Russert Spirit of Hope Fund. The fund will keep Tim’s spirit alive for the children of the island for years to come as building and renovation projects are finished. In 2009 the Tim Russert Spirit of Hope Award was created to continue his legacy. Past recipients include Lucile Hays, Maureen Hackett, Chuck Geschke, Robin and EJ Harvey and Richard Glidden. This year’s award was presented to Zona Tanner-Butler.
Its no secret that Wilson Stevens is a family business, so we love it when clients keep in the family when hiring the entertainment for their various special events. Back in October FreeStyle performed at Amy and Jeff’s Atlantic Beach Club wedding, and Amy’s father, also named Jeff, was a big fan the band. So much in fact that he hired them again to perform his company’s banquet at the Beechwood Hotel earlier this February!
Behavioral Concepts, Inc provides a wide scope of autism services to try and match the many varying needs and situations of families. From at home and after school services to programs aiding in social skills, Jeff and his employees work hard to make peoples’ lives better every day. We were beyond honored to give them a fun and celebratory night for all their hard work.
“Since FreeStyle played my daughter’s wedding in October, I had high expectations for their performance on Sat night. Once again, Freestyle exceeded my expectations! Outstanding music and even better people!”
In 2015, Wilson Stevens bands performed more than 600 beautiful weddings and exciting events, and here on the blog we featured over 50 of them! With so many wonderful celebrations, we just had to take a look back at the year by featuring our favorite moments from the blog.
Thank you for letting us be part of your lives this past year, we can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store!
Beantown kicked off 2015 on the highest of notes, helping the new Governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker and a few thousand friends and family celebrate at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. View full post here.
Eye 2 Eye proved that nothing can stand in the way of a great dance party at Lindsay and Jeremy’s Park Plaza wedding. It was truly a wonderful sight watching Jeremy dance the night away with his beautiful bride. View full post here.
Some celebrations rival even the craziest of party nights, and David and Shannan’s Marriott Long Wharf wedding did not disappoint! Ladies could trade in their heels for more comfortable flip flops, which came into good use once Radiance took the stage! View full post here.

After 2015, we think its safe to say farm weddings are here to stay! Case in point: Kristen and Ron’s Gedney Farm wedding with Boss, where the provincial theme carried through every detail, from Kristen’s lace gown to the decor. View full post here.
While not one specific wedding or event per-se, we were particularly proud to feature some first hand knowledge and wisdom on wedding weather on the blog this year! WSP Operations Manager Justin Wilson weighed in on what can happen when the weather just simply doesn’t go your way. A collection of stunning, if not damp, wedding photos from our favorite photogs prove there’s no such thing as “perfect weather.” View full post here.

Last week after Charlie Baker was officially sworn into office, Beantown helped the new Governor of Massachusetts and a few thousand friends and family celebrate at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
After hula and bag pipe performances, the Governor thanked his supporters for their hard work with a heartfelt address. Beantown then officially kicked off the evening, performing “Stand By Me” for the Inaugural First Dance. The Governor dipped and twirled his wife with stylish ease, and then it was time to party!
The “Let’s Be Great, Massachusetts” celebration was a huge success, featuring local artists to spotlight Massachusetts’ diverse culture and talents. Guests danced and shouted as Beantown performed their first 40 minute set, followed by performances from The Massachusetts Gay Men’s Chorus and Express Yourself ft. Stan Strickland. Shortly after, Beantown took the stage once again and the transformation to rock and roll super show was complete. Check out the photos below and you’ll see what we mean;-)
