About Mojo

Get your Mojo back with this combo of 3 award-winning singers, a 3 piece horn section known as “ the mojo horns”, and a pocket oriented rhythm section including percussion. This group is all about the vibe, savoir-faire and brass-heavy arrangements. Soul, Motown, Top 40, 90’s R&B, and Classic Rock is where Mojo lives, blending the sound of classic hits with contemporary style.

MOJO performs at either 9, 10 or 11 pieces. The difference in size relates to the number of horns and the presence of percussion:

The 9 piece band includes 1) bass, 2) drums, 3) guitar, 4) keyboard, 5) saxophone, 6) trumpet 7) lead female vocal, 8) lead male vocal and 9) lead male vocal.

The 10 piece band includes 1) bass, 2) drums, 3) guitar, 4) keyboard, 5) saxophone, 6) trumpet, 7) trombone, 8) lead female vocal, 9) lead male vocal and 10) lead male vocal.

Lead Vocalist Anthony

Anthony is a proud New England native hailing from Norwood, Massachusetts, though his upbringing was far from quiet. Anthony immersed in music at a young age, and by 8 years old he was singing everything from Motown to 80’s pop, and plenty of R&B. He began his formal training at the age of 11. This lead to high school and collegiate opportunities in musical theatre. A graduate of Northeastern University, Anthony has achieved many musical accolades such as gaining a lead role with the internationally recognized a cappella group, The Nor’easters. He recently helped usher in a win for the group at the International Collegiate Championship of A Cappella, where Anthony was awarded a “Best Soloist” at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Anthony has since performed internationally, won 5 collegiate titles, and sang on world-renowned stages. He also participates in Hyannis Sound, a 25-year-old organization of musical excellence on Cape Cod.

Lead Vocalist Laura

Laura was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. As a child, she showed a strong inclination towards music early on having been exposed to vocal greats like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Sam Cooke. Growing up under the roof of two physicians, Laura’s interest in pursuing medicine led her to Boston University, where she studied Sociology and Public Health with a pre-medical concentration. During that time, her love for singing and music never wavered. In February of 2018, Laura was accepted into the nationally-renowned Berklee College acapella group, Pitch Slapped, where she was introduced to a community of aspiring artists. Since joining, she has had the opportunity to compete, tour, and record with Pitch Slapped, which has garnered the attention of performers like Jessie J and Rodney Jerkins. The group has even had the opportunity to perform for and with acts such as Pentatonix and Charlie Puth.

Lead Vocalist Marlon

Marlon is from East Orange, New Jersey. Currently he is a voice principal at Berklee College of Music, double majoring in Music Business and Music Production & Engineering. Since starting school, he has continued to hone his vocal and performance skills, as well as growing in his passion for music and working in music industry. Some highlights of Marlon’s career have been performing with great artists such as CeCe Winans, Byron Cage, and Larry Klein.

Trumpet Jon

Jon is a trumpet player, composer, and arranger from Orlando, FL. currently residing in Boston, Jon recently graduated from Berklee College of Music with a dual degree in Jazz Composition and Performance. In addition to playing and recording his own compositions, Jon performs extensively with ensembles and artists internationally most notably, Sam Rivers’ Rivera Orchestra, The Supervillians, Mary Wilson (of the Supremes) and Martha Reeves.

Saxophone Max

Max is an alto saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Producer, Composer, Arranger, from Cambridge Massachusetts. He worked extensively with Astral Voyage: The Big Electric Orchestra during his year in Valencia, Spain, and works consistently Jazz Rap Duo InfiniteSoul in addition to performing around New England with his quartet. He is currently working on his debut album.

Trombone Stephan

Stephan is currently finishing his education at Berklee College of Music in Performance. You can hear his musical stylings on the recently released album by Ralph Peterson Jr. entitled, "Listen Up!”. Stephan also performs with the recording band, the GenNext Big Band, and teaches music at Bridge over Troubled Waters, a local Boston Center for at risk youth. Originally from Charleston, SC he now lives in Boston performing all over the New England area.

Keyboard Ryan

Ryan’s interest in music became apparent at a young age, growing up in a musical household and watching his parents play the piano. He studied classical and jazz early on and went on to attend Berklee College of music after high school. Ryan has immersed himself in the Boston music scene as a freelance piano/keyboard player, performing many styles of music from classical, to blues, jazz, pop, and R&B. In 2004 Ryan became music director of a well-known wedding entertainment agency and held this position for over 10 years, contributing to its substantial growth during his tenure. He has performed with Aubrey Logan (Post Modern Jukebox), Sheena Easton, Keely Smith, Jim Belushi to name a few, and has shared the stage at festivals with artists such as Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Earth Wind and Fire, Dianna Ross.

Guitar Mike

Mike grew up on the South Shore of MA. His interest in music began at a young age, with his father introducing him to acts like Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and BB King. Mike started playing guitar at age 12, and by age 15, formed his first rock band. Upon entering Bryant College, Mike formed his first professional group while also playing in the school’s jazz big band and jazz combo. Eager to continue his training, Mike listened and practiced to different genres to expand his skills. He began to be influenced by artists such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, and Chick Corea.

Drums Brian

Brian is a drummer & composer from New Orleans, LA. By the age of 6, Brian had received his first drum set and began actively playing in his father’s church. He has performed with notable acts such as Donald Harrison, Jr. , Nicholas Payton, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Amina Figarova, and many others. Brian is a National YoungArts Finalist and has performed internationally at the New Orleans Jazz & Festival, French Quarter Festival, Vail Jazz Festival, Bern Jazz Festival, Rosh Ha’ayin Jazz Festival, and the Ingolstädter Jazztage Festival. Richburg is now currently studying at the Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship.

Bass Ali

Ali is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. Graduating Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production. He performs regularly around Boston and New England and is involved in a wide variety of musical projects drawing inspiration from music from all over the world. Recently, Ali had the pleasure to work with the legendary flamenco producer Javier Limón and R&B/Country artist Louie Bello.

Percussion Thomas

Thomas is a percussionist from Norway with Brazilian roots. He plays everything from pop / rock to jazz, latin, fusion. He feels strongly that his role of a percussionist is to create atmosphere, add colors and textures to the music, supporting the other instruments. His biggest inspirations are Airto Morreira, Paulinho da Costa and Luis Conte. Some highlights in Thomas' career are performing at the Boston Opera House during TedX Cambridge 2019, residency at Carnegie Hall, performed with renowned singer Vijay Prakash and performed several times at the Oslo Jazz festival. He is currently attending Berklee to finish up his bachelors degree in Performance in Music.

In addition to playing and recording his own compositions, Jon performs extensively with ensembles and artists internationally most notably, Sam Rivers’ Rivera Orchestra, The Supervillians, Mary Wilson (of the Supremes) and Martha Reeves.

Saxophone Max

Max is an alto saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Producer, Composer, Arranger, from Cambridge Massachusetts. He worked extensively with Astral Voyage: The Big Electric Orchestra during his year in Valencia, Spain, and works consistently Jazz Rap Duo InfiniteSoul in addition to performing around New England with his quartet. He is currently working on his debut album.

Trombone Stephan

Stephan is currently finishing his education at Berklee College of Music in Performance. You can hear his musical stylings on the recently released album by Ralph Peterson Jr. entitled, "Listen Up!”. Stephan also performs with the recording band, the GenNext Big Band, and teaches music at Bridge over Troubled Waters, a local Boston Center for at risk youth. Originally from Charleston, SC he now lives in Boston performing all over the New England area.

Keyboard Ryan

Ryan’s interest in music became apparent at a young age, growing up in a musical household and watching his parents play the piano. He studied classical and jazz early on and went on to attend Berklee College of music after high school. Ryan has immersed himself in the Boston music scene as a freelance piano/keyboard player, performing many styles of music from classical, to blues, jazz, pop, and R&B. In 2004 Ryan became music director of a well-known wedding entertainment agency and held this position for over 10 years, contributing to its substantial growth during his tenure. He has performed with Aubrey Logan (Post Modern Jukebox), Sheena Easton, Keely Smith, Jim Belushi to name a few, and has shared the stage at festivals with artists such as Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Earth Wind and Fire, Dianna Ross.

Guitar Mike

Mike grew up on the South Shore of MA. His interest in music began at a young age, with his father introducing him to acts like Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and BB King. Mike started playing guitar at age 12, and by age 15, formed his first rock band. Upon entering Bryant College, Mike formed his first professional group while also playing in the school’s jazz big band and jazz combo. Eager to continue his training, Mike listened and practiced to different genres to expand his skills. He began to be influenced by artists such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, and Chick Corea.

Drums Brian

Brian is a drummer & composer from New Orleans, LA. By the age of 6, Brian had received his first drum set and began actively playing in his father’s church. He has performed with notable acts such as Donald Harrison, Jr. , Nicholas Payton, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Amina Figarova, and many others. Brian is a National YoungArts Finalist and has performed internationally at the New Orleans Jazz & Festival, French Quarter Festival, Vail Jazz Festival, Bern Jazz Festival, Rosh Ha’ayin Jazz Festival, and the Ingolstädter Jazztage Festival. Richburg is now currently studying at the Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship.

Bass Ali

Ali is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. Graduating Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production. He performs regularly around Boston and New England and is involved in a wide variety of musical projects drawing inspiration from music from all over the world. Recently, Ali had the pleasure to work with the legendary flamenco producer Javier Limón and R&B/Country artist Louie Bello.

Percussion Thomas

Thomas is a percussionist from Norway with Brazilian roots. He plays everything from pop / rock to jazz, latin, fusion. He feels strongly that his role of a percussionist is to create atmosphere, add colors and textures to the music, supporting the other instruments. His biggest inspirations are Airto Morreira, Paulinho da Costa and Luis Conte. Some highlights in Thomas' career are performing at the Boston Opera House during TedX Cambridge 2019, residency at Carnegie Hall, performed with renowned singer Vijay Prakash and performed several times at the Oslo Jazz festival. He is currently attending Berklee to finish up his bachelors degree in Performance in Music.
