One of the most useful tools our clients request when trying to make a decision about their wedding entertainment is videos of the bands they are interested in. While we provide monthly opportunities to see bands live and in the flesh, sometimes schedules just simply get in the way. As such, we are constantly updating our band pages and YouTube channel with great new videos that showcase the style, variety, and overall vibe of each Wilson Stevens band.

The majority of our bands bookings are taken sight-unseen, based primarily on videos, reputation, and online reviews. As a rule, our videos are entirely representative of each band’s sound and feel. There are no smoke and mirrors. Simply put, our bands are only better in a live setting.

With that said, we’re releasing these fresh new videos featuring Wilson Stevens band One Step Ahead. One Step Ahead recently wowed Margaret and Grayson, who said, “I was initially nervous about booking a band sight unseen, but Giovanni’s voice sounded too good to pass up. Fortunately, the gamble played off: the real thing was even better than the video!”

With a range of musical backgrounds, influences and experiences, One Step Ahead has no trouble inciting a little dance fever by covering artists ranging from Sly and the Family Stone to Flo Rida. Check out their rendition of “Good Feeling” below, as well as a collection of other great songs in the video playlist.

One Step Ahead recently had the pleasure of performing at Margaret and Grayson’s wedding at the very enchanting Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA. After receiving the most gushing and gracious note below, we just had to post a few of the couple’s amazing wedding photos by Lisa Rigby along with it.

7/6/13 Wedding at Lyman Estate, Waltham MA with One Step Ahead

“Where to begin? I cannot speak about One Step Ahead without acting like Giada DeLaurentiis after she tastes something she’s made…and in case that’s too specific a reference for you, what I mean is ‘oooooh myy guuuh–AMAZING.’

I was initially nervous about booking a band sight unseen, but Giovanni’s voice sounded too good to pass up. Fortunately, the gamble played off: the real thing was even better than the video! Giovanni was amaaaazing, I love love looove his voice. (I love his voice so much I want to marry it and then as a bonus I’ll get to have a second wedding for One Step Ahead to play at!) Anyway, Giovanni sang “Time After Time” as our wedding song and I hope I don’t offend anybody when I say that he truly gave Chet Baker a run for his money with that performance. Lily, the female vocalist, has an equally gorgeous voice — and I am incredibly “voice picky”– hers is clear yet soulful, she could sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and have the crowd calling ‘encore!’ There was also a third vocalist (I regret I don’t know his name!) who sang “Simple Man” for the Mother-Son song and he captured the Lynryd Skynyrd sound perfectly. Bottom line: the talent is off the charts and their versatility is beyond impressive. They have all the tools and “ear” to create the perfect sound for each song/genre.

Lastly, as hosts/emcees, they were uber professional and let their sound be their main presence. By this I mean they did an excellent job of reading the energy of the crowd, segueing from song to song based on the feel of the dance floor, and incorporating our “please play” and “do not play” lists–all in a “not in your face” kind of way. They were definitely the pulse and heart of the party, but they never made it about them–NEVER schticky or cheesy. They did a wonderful job with the formalities/announcements, making a point to establish what we did and didn’t want to do weeks before the wedding. [One Step Ahead], I can’t thank you enough!!!”

We here at Wilson Stevens are excited about the advancements we’ve made when it comes to communicating with our clients and colleagues in the past few months. Our extensive YouTube channel boasts a vast selection of wedding band videos couples can browse in the privacy of their own home. Our Wilson Stevens Newsletter, now in its third month, allows us to keep in touch without keeping in touch. And we are thrilled our Facebook page has become a place where over 2,000 people are comfortable asking questions and sharing feedback, for which we are always grateful.

Since sharing is caring, it comes as no surprise that the next step for us was to create a platform where we can post all the photos, stories and ideas that come across our desks and into our heads. While a blog isn’t exactly breaking news, we wanted to take the time to carefully craft a place that will both showcase the work of our amazing bands, as well allow us to have a little fun.

Thank you for continuing to allow us to be part of your lives, your loves, and your computers. And with that we leave you with the below video, because like we said we’re here to have fun. Not as much fun as this couple, though.
